Andrew Guinan
Last weekend, on Sunday 27th February 2011, one of our fellow members, a good friend and competitor died in a tragic accident at a 4x4 event here in Scotland.
At 23 years old he had his whole life in front him but had already won that rarest of things - the admiration and respect of those around him, most of whom were much older and more experienced. The response on the Forums and Networking sites is testament to this and our memories of him will be dominated by his massive smile, his willingness to help and his unbridled enthusiasm.
He leaves our sport poorer for his passing and our thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
The Officials and members of SWCC
As everyone knows, SWCC, like most Clubs, is non profit making but over time generally has a surplus. This comes from generous donations from sponsors, from organisers and marshals and helpers giving time and goods that we otherwise have budgeted for and we give this money to a different charity every time. Since we started we have given around £13,000 to local charities and this year is looking good as well! It's always good to give a little back and let the world know we're not all Chelsea Tractor driving planet killers.
