last updated January 2012

Scotia Winch Challenge Club, along with his family, is delighted to announce the creation of a 4x4 Challenge Scholarship in memory of Andrew Guinan who we lost in a tragic accident in February 2011.

The Scholarship is intended to offer free entry for one vehicle (or a team of 2 if especially deserving) to the Scotia Winch Challenge 2012 with a cash contribution of £200, kindly donated by his family, towards the expenses of attending (ie fuel, accommodation etc) to someone who otherwise would be unable to enter. Our original intention, when we started running our Challenges, was to raise the game of 4x4 competition in Scotland and offer a chance for local participation in top level Winch Challenges and this Scholarship forms part of our ethos.

Whilst we have not yet set precise selection criteria, it is our intention to select someone who is, like Andrew, perhaps young and new to competition and has the true spirit of a gentleman competitor or maybe has been marshalling for many years and wants to cross over to participation. Age, experience and quality of vehicle are not barriers as we are looking for someone deserving who may have contributed to our sport or has the potential be a future ambassador. In his short time with us, Andrew easily contributed as much as he received, and we want to offer our support to those like him.

A few terms and conditions apply:

We are accepting nominations, by email only, to richard.dover@scotiawinchcc.org.uk with a closing date of the 31st March 2012.
