The Andrew Guinan Memorial Winch Challenge
Scholarship

last updated January 2012
Scotia Winch Challenge Club, along with his family, is delighted to
announce the creation of a 4x4 Challenge Scholarship in memory of Andrew Guinan
who we lost in a tragic accident in February 2011.
The Scholarship is intended to offer free entry for one vehicle (or a team of 2
if especially deserving) to the Scotia Winch Challenge 2012 with a cash
contribution of £200, kindly donated by his family, towards the expenses of
attending (ie fuel, accommodation etc) to someone who otherwise would be unable
to enter. Our original intention, when we started running our Challenges, was to
raise the game of 4x4 competition in Scotland and offer a chance for local
participation in top level Winch Challenges and this Scholarship forms part of
our ethos.
Whilst we have not yet set precise selection criteria, it is our intention to
select someone who is, like Andrew, perhaps young and new to competition and has
the true spirit of a gentleman competitor or maybe has been marshalling for many
years and wants to cross over to participation. Age, experience and quality of
vehicle are not barriers as we are looking for someone deserving who may have
contributed to our sport or has the potential be a future ambassador. In his
short time with us, Andrew easily contributed as much as he received, and we
want to offer our support to those like him.
A few terms and conditions apply:
- Applicants must be
- eligible for SWCC events
- resident in the UK
- the cash portion will be paid upon successful qualification for the
event (ie after arrival and passing scrutineering)
- The Scholarship consists of free entry for one vehicle plus a
conditional cash payment of £200 towards attendance costs of the Scotia
Challenge June 2012.
- SWCC may choose to extend the Scholarship to include free entry for a
second vehicle to form a complete Standard Class team.
- Nominations
- can be made anonymously or can be self nominations
- must be accompanied by the contact details of the nominee and 2
additional personal referees
- All correspondence will be in strictest confidence
- Closing date for nominations is the 31st March 2012
We are accepting nominations, by email only, to
richard.dover@scotiawinchcc.org.uk with a closing date of the 31st March 2012.
